Pupil Leadership

At Whitehill Primary we understand that the most important people in our school are the children.  As a school we believe that children are to be placed at the centre of our provision and that they have the right to the very best education.  We also recognise that with this right comes responsibility. If every child in the school sees themselves as a leader and acts accordingly we will continue to get better and better, the children will enjoy a first class school.  Pupil Leadership is a key part of our Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural learning as we prepare our children for their next step at secondary school and ultimately for their future life as part of society.

To aid with our onward development each Key Stage 2 class has children appointed by their peers to act in leadership positions.  Their role is to contribute directly to the School Development Plan and to act as part of the extended leadership of our school. As pupil leaders we regularly meet to review our progress as a school and to take part in exciting events to make our school even better. Some of our pupil leadership roles include: School Council, Digital Leaders, English Champions, Maths Champions and PE Champions.

Each term our pupil leaders attend a Pupil Leadership Conference, hosted by the Headteacher with special guest key note speakers.  Pupil leaders also meet in smaller groups with leaders in the school to contribute to evaluation and development.

Here are some examples of the conferences.

Ian Fishwick, a leadership coach, Ian started off the discussions of what is Leadership?

Mr Lorraine came in to talk at the Pupil Leaders conference about Leadership in Sports.
