Bulletin Friday 1st May
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
The sunshine has arrived and so has the Bank holiday weekend. Enjoy your
extra day off and we look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday
morning.
Bear Hunt
We are thrilled to announce our participation in the Bear Hunt initiative! This
community art project invites students to showcase their creativity by painting
a bear, which will then be displayed along a trail in our local area. Families
are encouraged to visit the trail together, creating lasting memories while
appreciating the artistic efforts of our students. For more information, you can

Reception Learning Adventures
In Reception, our young learners have been diving into the world of traditional tales!
This week, they have been exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk through hands-on activities, including planting their very own beanstalks.
The children are not only learning about the story but also engaging with nature, which enhances their understanding of the world around them.

Year 4 Trips
Year 4 recently enjoyed an enriching experience at PGL and Cyclopark!
These trips were filled with adventure and learning, providing opportunities for personal development, teamwork, and resilience.
We aren’t sure who enjoyed it more - the children or the staff!!!

Other news from across the school
This week has been bustling with diverse learning experiences across all year groups!
From health education to historical explorations, our students have been engaged in a variety of activities that support their educational growth.
• Year 1 : Students had a visit from the dentist, learning about oral hygiene and the importance of taking care of their teeth.
• Year 2 : Explored healthy eating through interactive workshops, learning about nutrition and making healthy choices - did you know a can of coke contains 14 spoons of sugar!
• Year 3 : Engaged in creating non-chronological reports on Viking gods, sparking their interest in history and research skills.
• Year 6: Have continued to work hard to prepare for their SATs and have also visited Chislehurst Caves.
These activities not only enrich our curriculum but also foster critical thinking, creativity, and health awareness.
We encourage parents to discuss these topics at home to reinforce learning and support their children’s educational journey.

Important Upcoming Dates
As we move into May, we have an exciting array of events lined up at Whitehill Primary! Here’s a quick look at what’s coming up:
• PJ Day ( Friday 8th May ): A fun day where students can come to school
in their pyjamas! This event is to raise money for more equipment for our
fantastic school. The PTA and their helpers will be waiting on the gates to
collect your donations.
• VE Day ( Friday 8th May ): We will commemorate this significant historical
event with activities that enhance our students’ understanding of history and
encourage discussions about peace and resilience.
• SATs Week ( Week commencing 11th May ): A crucial time for our Year 6
students as they prepare for their assessments. We are here to support them
every step of the way, ensuring they feel ready and confident.

Conversation Starter for You and Your Child
Here’s a thought-provoking question to spark a delightful conversation with your child: If you could travel back in time, which historical period would you choose to visit and why?
Enjoy your weekend
