Whitehill Primary School & Nursery

The Decus Educational Trust

Weekly Bulletin: Friday 13th June 2025

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

Professional artist Martin Brokeman came to visit  our year 6 students. He delivered a workshop and taught our pupils how to source colour pigments from nature. They used clays, minerals and plants to create organic paints which in turn were used to produce some stunning artwork. This artwork will soon be on display as part of an Aletheia Academies Trust art exhibition. The theme for this exhibition is ‘Belonging’ and the venue for the exhibition is The Woodville Halls Blake Gallery. Well done to all of our year 6 students - we were very impressed with the art that you produced!

Year 6 Artwork - Working with Martin Brokeman

Our year 1 and some of our year 2 students joined others from around the country in completing a phonics screening test this week. This test assesses pupils ability to match letters to sounds, to put sounds together and read. We are so impressed with how well our students did and also with how much their confidence has grown - well done!

Equally, well done to our year 4 students! Our year 4s joined year 4 pupils nationally by completing a year 4 multiplication check. We again, were extremely proud of their progress and determination here.

Week on week, we will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups.

We are in the process of reviewing the school’s policies regarding Primary aged students’ mobile phone use. We are looking to seek your thoughts. Please click HERE and share your views. Thank you.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Best wishes,

Angela Carpenter

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

This week, the class with the best attendance is Turquoise Class. Well done Turquoise Class! Keep up the good work!
