Weekly Bulletin: Friday 16th January 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
This week has been a real celebration of our pupils, their achievements, and the positive culture we continue to build together as a school community.
We were delighted to welcome our Chair of Governors, Mr Outred, into school to recognise pupils who have demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience and significant improvement. An award was presented to one pupil from each house, alongside an overall award for the child whose nomination most powerfully reflected these values. In addition, several other pupils across the school also received recognition for their efforts.
Governors - Most Improved Awards
It is truly a privilege to work with so many fabulous children, and we are incredibly proud of the perseverance, commitment and growth we see every day. Well done to all of the pupils who were celebrated — you are a credit to yourselves, your families and our school.
We also celebrated a number of pupils who achieved 100% attendance during the Autumn Term, having not missed a single day of school. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects real commitment to learning.
Attendance Awards
I would like to take this opportunity to remind families that, under statutory guidance, schools are not able to authorise holidays during term time. There are good reasons for this. Missing school — even for a short period — can have a significant impact on a child’s learning, their ability to keep up with peers, and their friendships. It can also make settling back into routines more difficult.
We have noticed that attendance regularly dips on Fridays. Please be assured that Fridays are full learning days, with a complete timetable of lessons, just like every other day of the week. Your support in ensuring children attend school every day really does make a difference.
This week, we also recognised improvement. One pupil in each class received a certificate and Golden Ticket for having the most improved attendance. All Golden Tickets go into a lottery draw, and the lucky winners will be invited to a tea party with the Headteacher. Well done to everyone who has made positive steps to improve their attendance — every day counts.
The Deputy Headteacher and I have spent time visiting classes this week, focusing on Maths and English. We were extremely pleased with the behaviour, effort and enthusiasm shown by pupils across the school. Our youngest children impressed us with how much progress they have made, particularly in reading and writing, and it was wonderful to see their growing confidence and independence. Our older pupils were also a real credit to the school, demonstrating excellent collaboration and the ability to clearly explain and share their learning.
Finally, thank you for your support on Census Day. We were delighted that so many pupils chose a school dinner, and we would like to thank our fantastic Kitchen Team, who prepared extra puddings so that children who do not usually have a school meal could sample the food if they wished. Your support with this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, as always, for working in partnership with us. Together, we can continue to support our children to thrive — academically, socially and emotionally.
Warmest regards,
Angela Carpenter
