Weekly Bulletin: Friday 30th January 2026
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
This week, our school was truly buzzing with excitement as we welcomed parents, families and members of our wider community to our annual STEAM Fair. It was a joy to see such a fantastic turnout, and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to join us and celebrate STEAM learning with our children.
The quality of the work on display was exceptional. Across the school, pupils showcased projects that were not only interesting and informative but also demonstrated deep thinking, creativity and curiosity. It was wonderful to see children confidently explaining their ideas and proudly sharing their learning with visitors. The hands-on activities were a real highlight, with pupils fully immersed in experimenting, building, questioning and exploring — a powerful reminder of how engaging learning can be when children are actively involved.
STEAM Fair
For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. By bringing these disciplines together, STEAM learning encourages children to think creatively, solve problems, collaborate effectively and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts — skills that are vital for their futures.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to our children and staff for the tremendous effort that went into planning and delivering such a successful event. Your hard work and enthusiasm shone through, and you should all be incredibly proud.
Building on the excitement of the STEAM Fair, I am delighted to share that I have launched our annual STEAM Competition this week. Pupils of any age are invited to take part and think like an engineer by designing a product that repurposes clean rubbish. Creativity, innovation and problem-solving are strongly encouraged! The best designs will win a construction set for their class. We are looking forward to seeing some imaginative ideas! Click HERE to learn more about this competition.
It was also a real pleasure this week to spend time enjoying afternoon tea with our Golden Ticket winners. Each pupil spoke confidently about the values for which they were awarded their Golden Ticket, and their behaviour throughout was impeccable. I was truly spoilt by their company and left feeling immensely proud of them all.
Attendance Awards - 30th January 2026
Again this week, we were also delighted to present awards to students who have shown exceptional determination in returning to school following a period of absence. Through their resilience and commitment, these pupils have improved their attendance more than anyone else in the school, and their efforts truly deserve recognition. Each of these students received a Golden Ticket in celebration of their achievement.
Finally, I have met with our Year 6 House Captains and Deputies, who are brimming with ideas and enthusiasm. They are currently working on plans to launch an exciting competition that promotes reading for pleasure across the school. More information on this will follow soon — watch this space!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It is a privilege to work alongside such a committed school community.
Warmest wishes,
Angela Carpenter

Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
