Weekly Bulletin: Friday 9th May 2025
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
VE Anniversary Celebrations at Whitehill
It was lovely to see so many of our staff and children mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day yesterday by dressing up, listening to war time music and joining in with a range of fun activities. In assembly some Pathe footage from the time was shared with our pupils. We discussed why people from around the World stopped to celebrate on May 8th 1945 and thought about the sacrifices that some people made to ensure that there was peace across Europe. You can support your child with this learning by watching and discussing the following video together.

Year 5 this week has been impressing us all with their knowledge of geometry. There was some very confident and well-considered problem solving going on whereby children were using their knowledge of lines and shapes to calculate unknown angles. Well done!
Year 5 Maths
We will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups week on week.
Forest School - Easter Holiday Club
Mrs Gardner wanted to thank those of you who joined her for a trial Forest School Club over the Easter. You can see in the photographs above some of the activities that were enjoyed by those attending. Mrs Gardner will look to run further Forest School Holiday Clubs in the future. We will update you on this in due course.
The children have been very busy refining and improving their artistic creations and are very excited about our forthcoming Art Exhibition. Please don't forget that you are all invited to come along and view our students' masterpieces. The gallery will be set up in the Key Stage 2 Hall between 15:45 and 16:30. Please come an join us in admiring our pupils' work. We look forward to seeing you there!
Best wishes,
Angela Carpenter

Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
This week, the class with the best attendance is Turquoise Class. Well done Turquoise Class! Keep up the good work!
